BENEFITS OF 4th AXIS ROTARY SYSTEMS

One of our customers approached us with a project which required a large amount of 4th axis work. The main challenge for us was to create a tooling system which would allow us to have uniform production. The HAAS has a fantastic way of “mirroring” the axis, which allowed us to expedite the entire production and reduce a large amount of hours from the entire build-up.

Using a 4th axis rotary unit serves to greatly reduce the amount of time that it takes to shape an object; without it you would be forced to reposition the object several times to get the same result. Through the removal of the time that it takes to manually reposition components and also the negation of man power, rotary units play a large part in reducing manufacturing costs. The precision that they provide also helps to promote uniformity in components and provides a quality that could not otherwise be achieved.

PART PROBING ACCURACY

The Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS), with optical transmission for part setting, tool setting and inspection, make manufacturing substantially easier.  All WIPS elements are designed to withstand the most difficult shop floor conditions. The Haas Intuitive Probing System makes probing easy to understand and use through simple language, a graphical interface and clear instructions. 

The Intuitive Probing System software guides the operator through the probing set-up process, prompting them to enter each necessary dimension. Once all dimensions are entered, the operator executes the probing cycle by pushing the Cycle Start button. The probing cycle can then be saved in memory, and recalled when needed.

COMPLEX TURNING AND MILLING

The ability to turn and mill complex parts and perform multiple operations on one machine increases throughput, reduces handling, and improves accuracy.
